2025 Miss Truckee Pro Rodeo Queen: Kadence Gruno

Hello there, My name is Kadence Gruno, I am 19 from Stockton, California. I am a sophomore at San Joaquin Delta College where I am majoring in business with the goal of starting my own lesson and training programs. I have worked in the horse industry for four years now starting ponies, giving lessons and (my personal favorite), restarting off-the-track thoroughbreds. I have two of my own horses; an AQHA mare named Summer and an appendix mare named Siccora. Along with horses, I also have a year-old blue heeler puppy named Loa who accompanies me pretty much anywhere. If I’m there, she probably is too!
Throughout this year, I want to welcome as many of our youth as possible into our community and family, showing them the Western way of life and teaching them more about agriculture and rodeo. I would be unable to do any of it without our amazing Truckee Pro Rodeo team and fellow sash sisters behind me. I especially could not do it without Cyd, who has been my voice of reason, motivator, and the world’s most patient person (I ask A LOT of questions).  I am so excited for what this year has to hold and cannot wait to share it with all of you!

Visiting Queens

We welcome regional queens who would like to visit the Truckee Pro Rodeo to do a queen run. If interested, we can always use more help carrying flags in the rodeo as well. If you are planning to attend,  please contact our queen coordinator, Ronda Gentry at ronda@gng-logistics.com or at (775) 742-2914. Please submit a bio in advance.

Past Queens

2024 Miss Truckee Pro Rodeo Queen: Cyd Curle

I graduated from the University of Nevada Reno with a Political Science degree and an English minor. I started at the age of 6 participating in equestrian competitions, ski racing around the Tahoe basin, and playing lacrosse in this beautiful landscape she calls home. I want to thank all the volunteers, rodeo fans, livestock contractors, and the cowboys and cowgirls who make everything happen. I pray for a safe and fun rodeo for all the contestants and livestock. I am so is proud to serve my community and promote the sport of rodeo.

2023 Miss Truckee Pro Rodeo Queen: Hannah-Jean Ortiz

Aloha! I am 24-year-old Hannah-Jean Ortiz, your Miss Truckee Pro Rodeo 2023 Queen! Born and raised all over Placer County, California, I am proud to represent The Truckee Pro Rodeo throughout my year, where I will be advocating not only the importance of education in the western way of life but to follow your dreams no matter how crazy they may seem.

I am a graduate of Del Oro High School, Class of 2016. There I spent most of my time in every music ensemble I could be a part of- Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Colorguard on top of being a Varsity cheerleader and member of Future Farmers of America. I dedicated my time during my senior year to honing my musical conducting technique, which led me to become a conductor for a prestigious drum corps, Blue Devils ‘B.’ I spent my next two summers traveling across the United States with 150 members competing in marching band competitions earning us gold and silver medal. I was so honored to be awarded Drum Major of the year in 2017 and inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame! I took my knowledge and became an instructor for many marching bands across northern California.

After graduating from Paul Mitchell the School at MTI College, I received my Cosmetology license from the State of California and began working in a high-end salon shortly after. I spend most of my time at the salon, but when I am not, I am line dancing at my local country bar- Stoney’s Rockin Rodeo, or working with my mare, Moonchild. Moonchild is my project horse who has taught me so much already, and I cannot wait to learn more not just about training horses but about the Rodeo itself.

I want to thank my mother for taking me to the local rodeos as a child, where the dream began. I would also like to thank those who helped me get here and believed in me and my dreams. And finally, I am so grateful to have Ronda as my queen coordinator and the family of Truckee Pro Rodeo supporting me and opening their hearts to me as I take on this journey. There is so much to experience, and I cannot wait to bring you along with me!

Hello everyone my name is Bailey Abi-Nader and I am your miss 2022 Truckee Rodeo Queen. I am 22 years old and was born and raised in North Lake Tahoe. This June I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S in Animal Science with an emphasis in Equine Science. I spent the last three years of school working at the UC Davis Horse Barn breeding and foaling out mares while also working as a technician in the livestock wing at UC Davis VMTH. I am taking a gap year to work on some research and have some fun before I apply to Veterinary schools and pursue a DVM in Livestock and Equine Medicine. My senior year has been a whirlwind of fun and education while also representing the Truckee Rodeo. I have had a blast following the rodeo circuit this year with my mare Josie. My favorite events during my time have been Bishop Mule days, Oakdale rodeo, Gold country rodeo, and the Truckee 4th of July parade. I can not wait for the 47th annual Truckee Rodeo and I can not wait to see you all there!

I want to thank my parents and family for traveling to all the rodeos with me and learning as they go. I also want to thank Sarah Fowers and Izze Miller for being a rodeo mom to me when I need one and for always having a good pep talk ready. Thank you to Carol Pauli for always opening up her home and arms to my mare and I whenever we need it. Her place has and always will be a second home to us. Last but certainly not least I want to thank my teen queen Chloe for being a fun and supportive partner this year. It would not have been the same without her!
