During the 1800's thousands of imigrants passed

through Truckee to find a better life and to quench their taste of "Gold Fever". Many continued to Sutters Fort in Sacramento but some stayed here and worked the ice fields, the lumber industry and the railroad.

Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Truckee is located in the heart of a recreational paradise. Outdoor sports abound with hiking, biking, horseback riding and

winter skiing with eleven ski areas located within one hour of downtown.

The historic Truckee Hotel has for  more than 125 years kept pioneers and recent guests comfortable as a stage stop or as the quaint hotel it is today. The Truckee Hotel is located in historic downtown Truckee.
